abstract

in this paper, the effect of prestrain on strain aging of low carbon steels, in the temperatures of 100°c and 200°c and the aging time of 50 minutes, and also the effect of aging temperature on strain aging in a constant aging time and prestrain, are investigated. the results of experiments show that with increasing the amount of prestrain, the increase in yield stress and ultimate tensile strength, and the decrease in luder band length, first they increase and then decreases. also, in the case that the other parameters are constant, there exists a temperature which the increase in yield stress and ultimate tensile strength, and decrease in luder band show their largest values.

Static Strain Aging Behavior of Low Carbon Steel Drawn Wire

The static strain aging is a phenomenon that can change the mechanical properties of low carbon steels. Thus, the static strain aging behavior of low carbon steel wires after drawing process is studied. To do so, the wires are austenitized at different temperatures and cooled in different rates. Then the wires are drawn and aged at a specific temperature and time. Before and after aging of each...

PREDICTION OF CRITICAL STRESS AND STRAIN FOR THE ONSET OF DYNAMIC RECRYSTALLIZATION IN PLAIN CARBON STEELS

The aim of the present study is the prediction of critical conditions (including critical strain and flow stress) for the initiation of dynamic recrystallization during thermo-mechanical processing of plain carbon steels. For this propose, torsion tests were conducted at different temperature (1050, 1100 and 1150˚C) and strain rates (0.002, 0.02 and 0.2/s). All flow curves showed a peak st...

AN INVESTIGATION TO BAINITE FORMATION MORPHOLOGIES IN NI-CR BEARING LOW CARBON STEELS THROUGH THERMOMECHANICAL PROCESSING

The presence of bainite in the microstructure of steels to obtain a proper combination of strength and toughness has always been desired. The previous works however have shown that the presence of preferred bainite morphologies in the microstructure of any steel would not be readily accessible. In addition, the appearance of different bainite morphologies in the microstructure of any steel is d...

STRAIN INDUCED AUSTENITE-TO-FERRITE TRANSFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF PLAIN CARBON STEELS THROUGH SINGLE PASS ROLLING

In principal, a proper combination of strength and ductility is achieved through micro component refinement in steels. This is particularly empowered with ferrite refinement down to micron sizes in ferrite pearlite engineering steels. The latter is achieved through various well-defined methods in which strain induced transformation (SIT) has shown spectacular capabilities. In the present study,...
